About

Choghadiya divides the day (sunrise to sunset) and the night (sunset to next sunrise) into eight parts each. Every part is named after one of seven qualities — Amrit, Shubh and Labh are considered favourable, Chal neutral, and Udveg, Rog and Kaal unfavourable. It is widely used in Gujarat and Rajasthan for starting travel or business.

Each part is one eighth of the actual day or night length at your location. The day sequence starts with the weekday's lord; the night sequence starts five steps later.

Traditions may vary by region and Panchang convention. Times are shown for the selected place, time zone and calculation profile.
