Check by Janma Nakshatra
No birth details needed: choose your Janma Nakshatra (and Janma Rashi if the nakshatra spans two signs).
How this is worked out
- Janma Nakshatra and Janma Rashi: the Moon's sidereal nakshatra and sign at the moment of birth.
- Tarabalam: count from the Janma Nakshatra to the day's nakshatra (both included) and reduce by 9. 1 Janma, 2 Sampat, 3 Vipat, 4 Kshema, 5 Pratyari, 6 Sadhaka, 7 Vadha, 8 Mitra, 9 Param Mitra. Traditionally 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9 are favourable, 3, 5 and 7 unfavourable, and Janma is mixed.
- Chandrabalam: the house of the Moon's current sign counted from the Janma Rashi. Houses 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11 are traditionally favourable; the others unfavourable.
- Overall: favourable when both are favourable at sunrise, unfavourable when both are unfavourable, and mixed otherwise. This is a plain combination of the two, not a separate rule.
- Personal-day guidance: the day is favourable only when both Tarabalam and Chandrabalam are good at sunrise, unfavourable only when both are bad, and mixed otherwise. Muhurat suitability is a different, stricter model (a muhurat window is unfavourable if either is bad), so a mixed day can still contain unsuitable muhurat windows.
- The day runs from sunrise to the next sunrise at your current place, and each nakshatra and Moon-sign span is shown with its exact times.
Practices vary: some traditions give Chandrabalam more weight in Shukla Paksha and Tarabalam more weight in Krishna Paksha, and Janma Tara is treated differently by different authorities. Treat this as a traditional guide, not a prediction.
