About
A muhurta is two ghatis, one thirtieth of a full day. The day from sunrise to sunset and the night from sunset to the next sunrise are each divided into fifteen muhurtas, and each muhurta has a traditional name and is considered favourable or unfavourable. The eighth daytime muhurta (Vidhi) is the Abhijit Muhurat.
Daytime and night-time are each divided into 15 equal parts at your location, so their length changes with the season.
Names follow the classical list (Rudra … Bhaga, Girisha … Samudra). A muhurta is marked favourable or unfavourable only where the commonly published tables (the Wikipedia Muhurta table and the tables in published Panchangs) agree.
Traditions may vary by region and Panchang convention. Times are shown for the selected place, time zone and calculation profile.
