Shloka of the day

Shloka of the day Friday, 14 August 2026

One Sanskrit verse a day from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Vedas, subhashitas and well-known stotras, with transliteration and meaning. 132 verses in rotation.

Bhagavad Gita 2.47

karmaṇyevādhikāraste mā phaleṣu kadācana |

mā karmaphalaheturbhūrmā te saṅgo'stvakarmaṇi ||

Meaning

Your right is to the work alone, never to its fruits. Do not let the fruit be your motive, and do not cling to inaction either.

The meaning is our own short paraphrase, not a word-for-word translation.
