Mantra
शं नो देवीरभिष्टय आपो भवन्तु पीतये ।śaṃ no devīrabhiṣṭaya āpo bhavantu pītaye |
शं योरभि स्रवन्तु नः ॥śaṃ yorabhi sravantu naḥ ||
The Roman line is IAST transliteration derived from the Devanagari (ā = long a, ṃ = anusvara, ḥ = visarga, ś/ṣ = sh sounds, c = ch as in “church”). In Hindi, Awadhi and Braj texts the silent final “a” is dropped. Transliteration does not show Vedic accents.
Traditional context
In the Rigveda the verse is addressed to the waters; the graha-shanti tradition applies it to Shani. Some Jyotish traditions associate its recitation with Sade Sati and Shani dasha — a traditional practice, not a guaranteed remedy.
