Traditional subhashita

मातृवत्परदारेषु परद्रव्येषु लोष्टवत् ।mātṛvatparadāreṣu paradravyeṣu loṣṭavat |

आत्मवत्सर्वभूतेषु यः पश्यति स पण्डितः ॥ātmavatsarvabhūteṣu yaḥ paśyati sa paṇḍitaḥ ||

Meaning

One who sees another’s wife as a mother, another’s wealth as a clod of earth, and all beings as oneself is truly wise.

जो पराई स्त्री को माता के समान, पराए धन को मिट्टी के ढेले के समान और सब प्राणियों को अपने समान देखता है, वही ज्ञानी है।
