Shloka of the day Saturday, 26 September 2026

One Sanskrit verse a day from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the Vedas, subhashitas and well-known stotras, with transliteration and meaning. 132 verses in rotation.

Bhagavad Gita 2.70

āpūryamāṇamacalapratiṣṭhaṃ samudramāpaḥ praviśanti yadvat |

Meaning

As rivers flow into the ocean, which is ever being filled yet stays within its bounds, so desires enter the sage without disturbing him; he finds peace, not the one who chases desires.

The meaning is our own short paraphrase, not a word-for-word translation.
